Interview with Guido Stratta, People & Organization Director of Enel Group : the role of kind leadership on organizational well-being
Kind leadership is an approach to leadership that relies on empathy, compassion and self-awareness . Instead of using force or authority to direct others, kind leaders seek to inspire and motivate people through example and support.
Kind leadership focuses on actively listening and attending to team members' needs, creating a positive and welcoming work environment. This type of leadership encourages collaboration, creativity and autonomy of team members , rather than imposing orders and rules.
In this interview we will have the pleasure of speaking with Guido Stratta, People & Organization Director of Enel Group , to explore the link between kind leadership and organizational well-being.
In this article we will see:
Characteristics of a leader who promotes well-being in the company
The importance of positive and inspirational leadership models
Involve leaders in the process of implementing the corporate wellbeing program
Create a culture of well-being with active leadership support
What are the characteristics of a leader who promotes well-being in the company?
The kind leader essentially has three characteristics based on the main relational levels: the I, the we and "the I in the us".
A kind leader is first of all a person who uses kindness towards himself , taking care of aspects related to the well-being of his own "self". This ability to welcome, accept and self-promote constant and intimate personal growth inevitably leads the kind leader to be able to recognize those in front of him, even through difficulties, and allows him to create a "space at the centre" capable of promoting a relational context in which to feel at ease.
The second characteristic of a kind leader is given by his ability to make Us, the community, flourish even in vulnerability. Letting ideas flow without hierarchical dogmas, to achieve a common goal, a result that brings success to the whole team. As in the best competitive teams, even in the company the best result is produced by the sum of individual individual efforts.
Perseverance that arises from the sum of Courage and Patience, fundamental ingredients in the continuous and double-flow transition that goes from I to We and vice versa. The bravest thing our kind leaders can do will be to not let themselves be influenced by the context , but rather learn to defuse it to calm tension and enable kindness. Breaking the circuit of aggression in dialogue that allows everyone, cynical and kind, to exist in the same way, to ensure that no one can prevail over the other. Without everyone's commitment the result cannot be achieved.
The importance of positive and inspirational leadership models. What connection do you think there is between kind leadership and corporate well-being?
The foundational paradigm of the kind leadership model is based on 3 interconnected levels. Let's try to imagine it as a triangle that starts from well-being, that is, the state of individuals in which, in addition to physical well-being, they do what they love to do in a work context in which they feel "safe". This state therefore generates motivation, because in feeling good the individual automatically feels motivated and consequently the team does too.
This leads us to increasingly put the individual at the center of our organizations: without people who get involved at 360 degrees in the company, and without companies that take care of people at 360 degrees, we cannot achieve success shared and the right level of remuneration to which every organization aspires.
Involve leaders in the process of implementing the corporate wellbeing program.
Involving leaders in the process of implementing your Corporate Wellbeing program is critical to its success and overall effectiveness. Business leaders have a key role in creating a company culture that values and promotes employee well-being. When leaders actively engage in the program, they demonstrate the importance the company places on well-being and inspire others to follow suit. Additionally, leaders can provide the support and resources needed to deliver the program, ensuring it is integrated into the business strategy and receives the necessary attention and commitment. Involving leaders in the process of implementing the Corporate Wellbeing program can help create a healthy, satisfying and sustainable work environment, promoting employee well-being and improving the overall performance of the organization.

Creating a culture of well-being with the active support of leadership How is a culture of well-being built in the company?
All organizational contexts live in the need to evolve, this happens with people, for people and thanks to constant listening to people.
We must be ready to ask the right questions , those capable of deeply investigating the real level of well-being of the people within our organization.
The dramatic events of the pandemic and wars put us face to face with a very clear theme, namely that only in a state of real well-being do people "give away their genius", in other words their best performance. And to do this people need authenticity . Kind leadership is a tool that places the human being at the center of organizational life, with his passions, his vulnerabilities and above all his abilities. In this relational equation the person is no longer a number or an organizational box but is a face which, if understood in all its parts, brings the best results for himself and for the organization
In this way we will be able to cultivate a team spirit in line with the company vision , integrated between individuals and the community. This is because in well-being people can find self-realization and a healthy work-life balance also through positive relationships with colleagues.
